Sacramento Wedding at Vizcaya Mansion

June 24, 2022

You know, no matter how many times I photograph weddings they will never get old. Being able to capture such a special moment between two people is seriously one of the best feelings in the world. While there are so many couples I wish I could showcase on my blog, I would be here until next year writing – LOL. One wedding that really stood out to me was Lisa and Dan’s Sacramento Wedding at the Vizcaya Mansion. Not only because of how amazing these two looked, but how absolutely beautiful this wedding venue is. To see some of the beautiful details come together for Lisa and Dan’s wedding day, keep scrolling.

Sacramento Wedding at Vizcaya Mansion

The Vizcaya Sacramento Mansion is one of the most beautiful Sacramento wedding venues I have ever seen. Established in 1889, this mansion has slowly become one of Sacramento’s sought-after wedding venues. Featuring their own bed & breakfast located on the property that is surrounded by luscious landscaped gardens. You have access to their courtyard and twinkling lights that will make your wedding day feel like a real-life fairytale. As it should, imo. Getting Ready

I first arrived at their venue to meet up with Lisa and her bridesmaids in the bridal prep room. While I was with Lisa and her gal pals, my second shooter was over-catching the details with Dan and his groomsmen. Now if you don’t know why having a second photographer on your wedding day is important, I recommend you check out this blog here!

As soon as I arrive on wedding days, I typically begin by taking detail photos. Detail photos are a great way to single out some of your most precious wedding details for you to look back on. Some things to include in wedding detail photos are:

  • Veil
  • Shoes
  • Perfume or Cologne
  • All three rings
  • Invitation Suite
  • Floral Trimmings (ask your florist for any extra floral trimmings)
  • Jewelry
  • and more!

I recommend collecting all of your wedding details in a box prior to your wedding day. That gives us, your wedding photographers, the chance to start photographing as soon as we arrive. We also won’t need to end up bothering you to find any items which will be a major time saver! That first portion of the day was spent with Lisa and Dan making sure that they were prepped and ready to go for their ceremony.

Since Lisa and Dan opted out of a first look, it was time to move right into the ceremony! Located at the Vizcaya Mansion pavilion, Lisa and Dan’s ceremony was utterly beautiful. Absolutely not a dry eye in sight and one that completely took my breath away. During the ceremony, Lisa and Dan performed an hourglass unity ceremony. The hourglass wedding ceremony symbolizes unity and the beginning of their new lives together. To read more about the hourglass wedding ceremony, click here!

As I mentioned before, the Vizcaya Mansion property is absolutely impeccable. The grounds are just beautiful so naturally, we had to steal the newlyweds for some portraits. If you’re ever feeling nervous in front of the camera, especially being photographed on your wedding day the most important thing is communication. Making sure that you communicate with your wedding photographer, your wants and needs is incredibly important when taking your wedding portraits. Or really any portraits in general! Communicating with your photographer not only ensures you get your most ideal images, but that you’re feeling 100% confident in front of the camera which is always our goal.

Shortly after their wedding portraits, we made our way back for the reception. Of course, these two came in rocking grins from ear to ear, which is all we could ever ask for. The love between these two was absolutely radiating and you just KNEW it was going to be a good night. After the usual speeches and first dances, we geared up for one of the star events of the night. Lisa and Dan had a “money dance” tradition while on the dance floor. The money dance tradition is essentially where the couple is gifted money by their wedding guests. This money is usually secured on sashes or tucked into their pockets and clothes. Safe to say that there were a whole lotta bills flying around that night.

We spent the remainder of the night dodging dollar bills flying at us, dancing to some good music, and enjoying some amazing food. Not a bad way to end the night, am I right? Congratulations to Lisa and Dan on an absolutely magical day. I am so honored to have been there to capture it all and I am wishing you the happiest of futures. Cheers!
